The Tamla All Stars are a quartet who specialise in classic soul music, especially featuring artists who recorded for the Motown record label. The band blends well known classic songs from the 60/70s by artists like The Supremes, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder with records from their chart rivals: Curtis Mayfield and Al Green. They also include songs from more recent artists like Amy Winehouse and The Style Council who took inspiration from the Motown sound. With a guitar, bass and drum rhythm section inspired by The Funk Brothers, bluesy vocals and jazzy saxophone the band’s repertoire features heartbreak ballads and dancefloor fillers.
